Scope
  • Approximately  12000m3 of insitu concrete
  • Foundations
  • 8000 square metres of insitu concrete deck with 1m deep 600 wide drop beams every 6m
  • 160m of 6m high RC retaining walls
  • 60m of 8m high RC retaining walls
  • 200m of Secant piled wall to be faced up with 200mm of concrete. Walls ranging from 6m to 9m in height.
  • 5000 square metres of external brush finished Concrete slabs.

SUMMARY

The project was very challenging in many ways due to the shear size of the project and the tight programme that it had to be constructed in. Our first challenge was to construct the 8000 square metres of insitu concrete deck by week 18 for the steel erector to start. This meant that we had to hit the project hard at the start. Within the first 2 weeks on site we poured 1500 square metres of concrete foundations to create retaining wall bases and removed 10,000 tones of spoil. The first concrete columns were erected in week 3 and the first decking formwork arrived on week 4. The 8000 square metres of Podium Deck was delivered on programme, constructed through the harsh winter of 2014/15, ready for the steel erector.
